One technology that hasn’t been updated in art world is the hardware used to hang framed artwork.
I was preparing my artwork for a LIFEDRAWING REIMAGINED show at The Three Legged Goat & ran out of eyehooks. Framing kits supply very few eyehooks & are always the first to run out. It’s like a gateway drug that sends me to my dealer, Home Depot, where I found these PicGenie123 options.
This is not an ad. I’m only getting the joy from sharing a discovery. Isn’t that what the internet is about?
These PicGenie123’s might make your life a little better.
So these PicGenie123’s work great. I would only add felt or rubber bumpers to the bottom of the frame so yo u can nudge it into a leveled position. At https://www.picgenie123.com/ they recommend using a 3m adhesive & that would do the trick for a permanent solution to keeping the frame from sliding, but not in month long gallery show.
Just a note, I try to salvage frames, glass & hardware to keep it out of landfills. I go to garage sales, thrift shops, Habitat for Humanities & material swaps. Frame supplies can be recycled. I sand, paint and/or stain wooden frames. Metal frames can be cleaned or painted. Light rust can be removed or maybe find that it gives a texture to your work & themes. Broken glass can be cut down to a smaller frame. Just think about this when designing your framed artwork.
You can decrease the art waste, keep materials in a local loop and reuse.
The solution may not be on a shelf, but in a nearby bin.
Hope this makes your life & art a little better.
